A painful and sad event happened at the start of Stage 19 of the 2019 Tour de France on Friday (July 26). French superstar Thibaut Pinot was forced to resign from this most prestigious race. He injured his left thigh muscle. When the stage lasted only 30 km, he stopped and cried into the Groupama-FDJ car.

This incident really disappointed the French public. Just a week ago, Pinot was seen as the best climber in this race. He dominated the second weekend of the race, winning Stage 14 at the top of Tourmalet.

Many say, if Julian Alaphilippe (Deceunick-QuickStep) failed to win this race, then the winner is Pinot.

Apparently, Pinot had suffered a thigh injury in the past two days. “Thibaut suffered a muscle injury to the left thigh. Yesterday (Thursday, July 25) he ended Stage 18 with severe pain and difficulty walking at night. His condition has not improved today, so he was forced to resign from the 2019 Tour de France, “read the official statement from Groupama-FDJ.

Entering Stage 19, Pinot is in the fifth general classification , only 1 minute and 50 seconds behind Alaphilippe.

In his career, this was not the first time Pinot had a problem in the last week of a grand tour . Previously it happened in this competition, also at Vuelta a Espana. (riding bicycle)
