Rashford, Kane, and Potential British Youth Squad
England dominates the match continued 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.
They won 4-0 over Bulgaria , Sunday (09/08/2019) morning. Attacker Harry Kane became a star with a hat-trick that was created, but the role of Marcus Rashford cannot be underestimated.
The Three Lions big win was not easily obtained. The 5-4-1 formation handed down by coach Krasimir Balakov was enough to reduce England who appeared using 4-3-3 with Kane, Rashford and Raheem Sterling as trident.
In football, small moments can have a big impact. This was proven by the creation of England’s first goal.
When frustration began to grow due to failing to dismantle the Bulgarian defense in the first 23 minutes, Rashford unselfishly fired a speculative kick that only produced goal kicks for the opposing team. As a result, we both know: goalkeeper Plamen Iliev made a fatal mistake. The operation was able to be cut by Sterling, who then provided assistance to Kane.
The Manchester United player again played an important role in the second goal. His patience and discipline in the left wing of the attack allowed England to counterattack lightning. The acceleration was not able to be anticipated by Bulgaria, resulting in a penalty that was executed perfectly by Kane.
The last name then provides help for Sterling for England’s third goal, before finally closing the match with a hat-trick (again) through the white dot.
“Of course it’s nice to score lots of goals and individual records, but the most important thing is to win the trophy with the team and England haven’t done it for a long time,” Kane was quoted as saying by the Guardian.
Even though his two goals came from a penalty, it doesn’t mean that Kane shouldn’t be praised. He has scored 25 goals in 40 appearances for the national team, surpassing Geoff Hurst and Stan Mortensen.
“We all saw him practice kicking penalties for 20 minutes (in training) yesterday. When you look at the process he went through, he deserved every chance to succeed thanks to the exercise,” said manager Gareth Southgate.
Southgate is worth a break. Not only because his team played effectively by scoring four goals from four shots on goal, but also because he has a promising depth of squad and the majority are young players.
Look Kane. Although he has long been in the England national team and is believed to hold the armband, he is only 26 years old. Southgate sees Kane as a role model for other players.
“I can only talk about the mentality of being a top player. Selfishness is not the right word because he is not a selfish player,” said Southgate. “If you talk to the other attackers in the squad, they will tell you about the great impression they got (from Kane).”
The 49-year-old coach did indeed reduce the squad who is relatively experienced in the game last night. Only Michael Keane and Declan Rice have caps in under 10 matches with England. However, he also did not hesitate to give the opportunity to Mason Mount (20 years) to make his debut, after entering to replace Jordan Henderson in the 67th minute.
Another young player highlighted by the British public is Jadon Sancho (19 years). Based on his performance with Borussia Dortmund (two goals and three assists in three Bundesliga matches 2019/20), it is clear that he can be a trusted option for England.
In the list of reserve players who have not played, there is still James Maddison (22 years). The player who plays as an attacking midfielder appeared impressive with Leicester City.
