Ronaldo needs 68 more goals in his career to surpass the Brazilian legend’s record.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes claims his client with Juventus will pass Pele’s record as the top scorer as well as the best in football history.
The captain and Portuguese superstar scored his 700th goal of his career when he saw his country lose 2-1 to Ukraine in a Euro 2020 qualifying match on Monday (10/14).
According to the sports analysis company Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation, Ronaldo is currently sixth in the list of all-time goalscorers, behind Pele with 67 goals but playing 179 games more than the Brazilian legend.
At the top of the list are former Czech- Austrian striker Josef Bican, who scored 805 goals in 530 matches from 1931 to 1955.
“Cristiano has reached an extraordinary milestone with 700 goals, but I have no doubt that he will surpass Pele as the best goalscorer in football history and he will do it with Juventus,” Mendes claims.
“Besides, 68 goals isn’t much for this amazing Cristiano Ronaldo, right? That’s also because I’m sure his best form hasn’t been seen.”
Ronaldo’s future at Juventus is still long enough, after club director Fabio Paratici feels confident the Portuguese superstar will keep his new contract commitments due to expire in June 2022.
