Florentino Perez wants Real Madrid to join the NBA
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez dreams of his club participating in the big league. He wants Real Madrid to compete in the NBA. Perez himself once proposed his club to enter the Eastern Conference.
The President said that the proposal could not be realized. Real Madrid is too far from the East. However, Perez did not just give up. He proposed another option by suggesting that the NBA form the European Territory. Real Madrid can go to the region.
Perez added, if Real Madrid entered the NBA, they could benefit. Given that the Spanish club has a global fan base. Perez even said there are only two NBA teams that have more followers than Real Madrid on social media networks.
“The other Spanish teams are not very interested,” Perez said per Independent . “However, there are Greek and Turkish teams that can enter the European Territory.”
Real Madrid itself is an outstanding club. They have 35 Spanish League titles, including the 2018-2019 season. While in Europe, they collected 10 EuroLeague titles. That has not been counted with other titles, such as: Spanish Cup, Spanish Super Cup, European Cup, and so on.
Real Madrid players also have enough names. Rudy Fernandez, for example, has played in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers and the Denver Nuggets. They even had time to spawn players like Luka Doncic. The Dallas Mavericks main guard as well as the 2019 Rookie of the Year graduated from Real Madrid.
Perez is now still looking for a way out so that Real Madrid can enter the NBA. The realization is still not visible. However, they are trying. (put)
