The war on the evolution of the gravel bike continues. The Italian brand, 3T, is again driving evolution from the extreme aerodynamics side. Again under the leadership of Gerard Vroomen, the innovator who founded – then left – Cervelo and now also leads the experimental bicycle brand Open.
In 2016, Vroomen and 3T caused a stir with Exploro. A gravel bicycle with aero character. Now, they have Exploro RaceMax, a continuation of the concept.
At first glance, there is nothing new extreme about Exploro RaceMax. But if you pay attention, this bike is really brave in terms of design. Although the basic form does not change much, there are parts that are classified as extreme. For example downtube . Although it is in the form of aero (curved in the wind), the width of the upper part is 46 mm. Then the bottom widens to 75 mm! Completely cover the bottle from the wind.
The capacity of the tire capacity is also improved. Exploro RaceMax is easily fitted with 700c tires to a width of 42 mm. Or, if you use 650b tires, you can get up to 61 mm!
Realizing more and more people like gravel, the number of sizes is also being multiplied. Old Exploro is only available in four sizes. If the new one is up to six sizes. Including the very small size for height under 150 cm!
Like most other gravel bikes, Exploro RaceMax can be fitted with 1x or 2x groupset. And they use the BB386EVO press-fit bottom bracket system .
Later, 3T will release a special accessory for this bike. Starting from the front and rear fenders to the pump.
