Road race world champion , Mads Pedersen extended his tenure at Trek-Segafredo. The Danish rider has just signed a contract extension. Pedersen will defend the team from the United States until 2022.
Pedersen defended Trek-Segafredo since 2017. His best achievement was to become the world champion of a road race in Yorkshire, England. Before the end of the 2020 season, Pedersen decided to extend his contract until the end of 2022.
“Luca Guercilena truly believed in me from the first time I joined this team. That trust is the biggest reason I am signing a contract extension at this time,” Pedersen said. Luca Guercilena is the manager of the Trek-Segafredo team.
Pedersen has won ten races for Trek-Segafredo. Starting from the Danish national championships, the Tour du Poitou Charentes, the Tour of Denmark, the Tour de l’Eurometropole, the Grand Prix d’Isbergues, and the Herald Sun Tour. Pedersen also finished second on the 2018 Tour of Flanders.
“I want to continue to win the race. I want to be more consistent,” said Pedersen as reported by Cyclingnews .
Luca Guercilena said she was happy because Pedersen extended her tenure at Trek-Segafredo. “It is very important for us to have the opportunity to work with Mads for a few more seasons,” he said.
“Having found it when he was young, developing it to become a world champion is a difficult job, but the results are satisfying. He is a winner, and has the instinct to win. I am sure he will succeed in classic races,” said the Italian manager.
