Oklahoma City Thunder takes the first pre-season game against Dallas Mavericks, Tuesday night, October 8, 2019, local time. Coming in with a new squad after the big race in the free player market, Thunder appeared convincing. Excellent since the first half, Billy Donovan’s team closed the game that was held at the Bank of Oklahoma Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States, with a 119-104 victory.
One of the Thunder newer players, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, immediately led the team’s points with a record of 24 points and 4 rebounds for 26 minutes of play. Danilo Gallinari followed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for 17 minutes.
The player with the longest serving period in the Thunder squad now, Steven Adams, scored 17 points for 21 minutes. This includes a tripoin shot that opens points in the game. As a conventional flashlight, this is the eighth tripoin in his career. Terrance Ferguson completes the Thunder two-digit scoring list with 12 points.
Accuracy is a big differentiator in this game even though Thunder actually makes more mistakes (turnover). The Thunder included 41/77 of their overall shots (53 percent) compared to only 36 percent of Mavericks (34/94). From tripoin, Thunder put in 14/28 shots (50 percent) compared to 26 percent owned by Mavericks.
This Mavericks squad has not been strengthened by their mainstay international duo, Luka Doncic and Kristpas Porzingis. Without both, Justin Jackson and Maxie Kleber became Timm’s top scorers by both scoring 14 points. Jalen Brunson, who started the game from the bench added 10 points and 5 assists for 13 minutes.
The two teams will meet again in the second preseason game, Monday, October 14, 2019, local time. In the second game later, Mavericks will host the American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas, United States. (DRMK)
