‘New Normal’ Trial Ala MotoGP KTM Team During First Test in Austria

KTM underwent what is called ‘New Normal’, running tests by trying to “resemble normality”. Among them what was done was to reduce staff by a total of 22 people, masks and the right distance between all present. “But overall we managed to create a similarity to normality in the Austrian track. In addition to allowing the two KTM riders to continue contact with RC16 after a long stop, said Pit Beirer, director of KTM Motorsport.

In addition to testing from a technical standpoint, the KTM team is also conducting a test of the current rules to limit the risk of transmission, in addition to verifying the movements (even if in the most probable amount) from other countries (the rules of each country are different). Of the 22 people present, two were Italians, one from England, another from the Netherlands, then from Spain … Not to mention Espargaro, who lived in Andorra, and Pedrosa, arrived from Switzerland. All were checked well before leaving and upon arrival in Austria. In the circuit then applied safe social distance, while all must be familiar with masks of all types of rules in the case of limited space.

“The first step towards normal conditions,” said Pit Beirer, KTM Motorsport boss. Many laps are done by KTM racers listed on the scoresheet of both racers (95 laps for Espargaro). The trials were carried out under sunny conditions under a blue sky and temperatures around 18 ° C. They took turns getting off the track from 9:30 to 18:00. Both have tried new components, different electronic arrangements and some new parts of the WP-made suspension.

The team’s plan is to return to the Spielberg track again in June, this time there will also be a new driver Brad Binder, while in July trying to bring down all four of their official drivers.
